8/12/18
A righty swinger that starts in an athletic setup. Put together another solid round of BP as we’ve come to expect this summer. Very athletic actions in the box with feel for contact. Can use the whole field with gap abilities to both sides of the field. Solid defender as well. Middle skill set that you could see on either side of the diamond. Glove works and transfer is quick. Can throw from multiple slots. On the mound, the right hander offers loose, easy arm action while throwing through a ¾ slot. Pounds the zone with a three-pitch mix. Fastball displays some arm-side run 79-82 mph. Breaking ball features 11/5 break while sitting between 66-68 mph. Also mixes in a 70-71 mph changeup; displays good fastball arm speed.
Infield Velocity: 81
Exit Velocity: 84

Mendoza put together another solid performance, adding to his strong summer. A right-handed hitter that starts in a wider stance. Simple, athletic load that creates balance and timing. Loose, whippy swing with authority through contact. Good athlete in the box with barrel accuracy. Made consistent hard contact in BP with backspin abilities to both fields. Solid bat. In the infield he plays with athletic, fluid actions. Feet work well with the ability to carry momentum through fielding and into throws. Skill set plays at multiple position in the infield.

Showed the ability to use the entire fielding in BP. In the infield he plays with quick, fluid feet. Actions are athletic in and out of funnel. Plays with rhythm and well above average ball skills. Solid defender that looks to be able to stay up the middle at the next level.

7/11/18
Mendoza has a big, strong frame making his presence known on the mound. His fastball jumps out of his hand with arm side run at 81-84 mph. Curveball is an above average out pitch at 66-68 mph with 12/6 break to it. His changeup is something that will continue to improve the more feel he gets for it but already has some arm side run to it at 72-75 mph. His arm tends to drag causing some high misses, but overall, he will see a future at the next level on the mound. As a defender continues to show well this summer with an above average feel for the position. Drop step into a good fielding position while doing a nice job of picking out his hop. Transfer is clean into a near ¾ slot topping at 80 mph. The increased arm strength should allow him to stay on the left side of the infield moving forward. A right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced stance. Athletic, efficient load into a balanced launch. Slightly downhill stroke with a balanced combination of strength and speed through the zone. Swing is loose and athletic with intent behind it. Ball jumps generating gap pop with easy lift. Very impressive round.
60-yard dash: 7.3
Infield Velocity: 80
Exit Velocity: 84
9/30/17
An infield prospect in the 2019 class. Ran a 7.47 60-yard dash. Impressed during batting practice. Movements are fluid and well-timed, syncing body up prior to launch. Path is level and barrel finds plane well. Bat has some whip through the zone. Should see easy improvements to his 70 mph exit velocity as he adds strength. Showed more pop in BP than exit velocity would indicate. Showed feel in the infield. Footwork is fluid and he knows when to attack or stay back on the baseball. Glove works well. Transitions smoothly through fielding into his ¾ slot. Displayed 70 mph arm strength across the diamond.
