Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Body Type: 6-foot-1, 200-pound sturdy frame that fits the catcher position. Swing Mechanics: Starts in a tall stance before getting in a toe turn timing trigger with vertical barrel launch. Hit: Smooth load that leads to a balanced launch. Loose, whippy swing through the zone with barrel authority and extension through contact. Made consistent hard contact in BP. Power: 83 mph exit velocity. Strong kid with bat speed. Does a nice job of balancing feel with intent in swing. Gap to gap guy that may be able to run a few out of the yard to pull side. Offensive Projection: Middle of the Lineup. Run: 7.37 60-yard dash. Field: Well above average defensive catcher. Receives well, can block and is a regular sub 2.0 thrower to second base. Throw: 1.93-2.0 pop times w/76 mph arm velocity. Arm action fits the position. Ball shows life out of the hand with carry/accuracy to the bag. Defensive Projection: Catcher.
1/15/18
Ran a 7.41 60-yard dash. A right-handed hitter that starts in an athletic setup. Barrel flows through his bat tip load into launch. Lower half creates energy through a knee pinch load and well timed weight shift. A strong kid with obvious feel for the barrel. Swings with intent and did a nice job of working the middle of the field. Middle of the lineup potential. Top exit velocity was 85 mph. Very solid behind the plate with an above average skill set across the board. Pop times ranged from 2.04-2.17 and he threw with 73 mph arm strength to second base.
11/18/17
Ran a 4.91 from home to first. Schroeder was the top performer behind the dish in the defensive evaluation. Mechanically sound back there with quick, smooth exchange skills. Arm action fits the position, allowing him to get rid of the ball quickly. Registered pop times of 1.98-2.07, and threw with 71 mph arm strength to second base. Also showed well at first base. At the plate he gets things going with a knee pinch timing trigger. Hands are noticably loose prior to launch, allowing him to generate easy/natural barrel whip through the zone. Path was mostly level and he works well to the inside of the baseball. A line drive type guy who looks to be able to hit for average with gap abilities. Topped out at 76 mph for his exit velocity.
7/12/17
A right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced setup. Gets things started with a toe turn load during his stride. Hands are loose and fluid during his bat tip load. A strong kid with impressive whip through the zone. A middle of the lineup bat with present gap to gap pop. Consistently produced back spin to his pull side. Still has more juice left in there. In the infield, he fields the ball slightly back on his heels. Feet stay square to the ball playing through it. Funnels the ball up to his ear and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. From the crouch, his hips rotate well with developing footwork. Throws the ball from a higher 3/4 slot with developing arm speed.
