The talented 6-foot-1, 170-pound prospect posses a smooth stroke from the left side and the athleticism to play several different positions at the next level. With sub 7.0 speed and arm strength from the crouch and the outfield, Murray will take his talents to Atlanta to play in the ACC for Georgia Tech.
7/27/12 Young player who shows good baseball sense and should improve game further with experience and physical maturity. Good defensive actions behind the dish and at third. Good hands and feet with playable arm (2.05-2.09 pop time). Upright hitting stance. Uses chest level trigger. Gets bat into zone well with long finish and controlled upper cut.
2/24/19: After a strong sophomore season in which he slashed .343/.410/.510, followed up with a .317 batting average in the Cape last summer Murray got off to a good start in the opener on Friday with two well-struck base hits. He sets up with a spread and open stance in the back of the box. Strides closed. Showed slider bat speed with length to his swing. The remainder of the series he failed to adjust to the Bruins' adjustment of pitching him inside, whether it be with a fastball below his hands or a slider at his back foot. Ran a 4.20 from the left side to first base. (Seifert)
8/8/18: 6’0, 190 pounds. Murray is a smooth athlete with a polished game. Low effort strides in the OF with average speed. Arm strength profiles best for CF/LF. Flashed a quick, compact swing from the left side. Barrel gets into the zone early and stays level thru contact. Hitting actions have rhythm and balance in the box. Good lift in the swing that projects for more power as he adds strength. (D Jurik)
4/10/18: Tech leading hitter Chase Murray (.400/.462/.539) did not play. He was hit in the back of the helmet with a pitch on Tuesday at Georgia and was taken out of the game. He has not yet been cleared to play. (Seifert)
