Daniel Gladden: 1B/RHP, (2022) Olentangy Berlin, OH. Wittenberg University Commit, 6-foot-3, 200-pound. Athletic at the plate, the right-handed hitter was ranked 3rd with an exit velocity of 95 mph. (73.49 mph bat speed average). (20.57 mph hand speed average). Began in a tall stance with a smooth load, then used a controlled stride. Bat speed is above average. Found multiple barrels with loud contact. Solid while in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 78 mph; showed average feet, consistent hands, and a natural fluid exchange. Uses his glove out front. Had a long arm action and consistent accuracy to the bag. Displayed speed and athleticism at the event, recording a 60 time of 6.87.

Daniel Gladden: RHP/1B, (2022) Olentangy Berlin, OH. 6-foot-3, 200-pound. Athletic at the plate, the right-handed hitter was ranked 2nd with an exit velocity of 96 mph. (70.50 mph bat speed average). (18.96 mph hand speed average). Starts in a balanced stance with a smooth load, then uses a controlled stride. Bat speed was explosive, and showed a level rotational swing plane. Solid in the infield, his best throw was registered at 80 mph; has a natural exchange, consistent choppy feet, and soft hands. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Had a loose arm action and a high ¾ slot. Established speed as one of his strengths with an efficient 60 time of 6.74. On the mound, slider (71-74 mph). Threw his fastball 81-84 mph. (Max spin 2099; Avg 1956).

6-foot-2, 200-pound projectable frame. Solid at the plate, Gladden was ranked 1st with an exit velocity of 98 mph.Begins in a balanced wide stance with a small load, then uses a controlled stride. Bat speed is electric, displays a flat swing plane and level finish. Had loud contact and found multiple barrels. Line drive approach. Solid while in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 80 mph; had athletic footwork, a clean exchange, and soft hands. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball deep. Decent accuracy to the bag, used a ¾ slot and a long arm action. Clocked a time of 7.0 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, showing quick arm speed he used a long arm action with a ¾ arm angle. Tall-and-fall type pitcher and shows some effort. Showed consistent balance point and falling off shoulders. Lands open with a recoil finish. Threw his fastball 80-83 mph; has command around the zone and sinking action. He showed glove side control and gradual action on his 11/5 curveball (70-72). Has arm side command and fading action on his changeup (71-74).

 6-foot-2, 200-pound physical frame. At the plate, Gladden's 94 mph exit velocity ranks him 2nd at the event. Began in a balanced tall stance with a small smooth load, then used a short stride. Had an upward swing plane, explosive bat speed and level finish. Had loud contact during the round. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.01. Fluid on the mound, has consistent arm speed and a ¾ arm angle. Used easy effort in his delivery. Changeup (71-73 mph), slider (70-71 mph).Threw his fastball 80-82 mph; shows slight running action and arm side command. He threw a 11/5 curveball (70-72).

Hit: Right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced stance. Uses a simple, yet fluid loading sequence. Very loud tools with mid to upper 90s exit velocity. One of the loudest rounds we saw. Good athlete.
Power: Legit power.
Offensive Projection: Middle.
Field: Frame/skill set plays over at first base. Lateral mobility is there and ball skills are serviceable.
Throw: Clean, loose arm with easy jump.
Defensive Projection: 1B.

Scouting Notes: Some of the top raw stuff we saw on the day. Physical arm out of Olentangy Berlin at 6-foot-2, 200-pounds with a fastball up to 84mph and the top breaking ball we saw on the day. Hammer of an offering spun at 72-73mph with present swing/miss.
Fastball: Heavy offering with regular run/sink.
Breaking Ball: One of the better breaking balls we saw on the day. Sharp, heavy offering that has quality action.
Changeup: More than playable third offering. Fastball look out of the hand with around 15inches of vertical action.
Pitchability: In/out throughout the bullpen.

7/08/20

6-foot-2, 195-pound athletic body frame. At first base he has fluid footwork around the bag with athletic actions showing the ability to move well off the bag to cover good ground. Has good arm strength for a first baseman throwing with a clean arm action through a ¾ slot at 76 mph. On the mound he throws exclusively from the stretch with regular effort to his delivery, landing more closed at foot strike. Has a long arm action with quickness to his arm speed from a ¾ slot. Fastball was between 80-82 mph. Slider has tight shape with cutting action between 66-69 mph. Throws a changeup using fastball arm speed ranging at  72-75 mph. Right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance striding to even at foot strike. Showed strength and bat speed during his round of batting practice with the ability to hit the ball to both sides of the field. Recorded an exit velocity of 90 mph. Ran a 7.03 60-yard dash.

6/12/19

Body type: 6-foot-2, 195-pound thin and athletic frame.

Swing mechanics:   Smooth and simple load into his lower half with minimal movement.  Keeps his hands loaded through contact.

Hit:  Uphill bat path with a backside approach.

Power:  Flashes pop backside with more to come as he develops.

Offensive projection:  TBD.

Field: Shows good footwork around and coming off the bag at first. Glove is solid, should be a reliable defender.

Throw: Transfer needs to be quicker. Arm strength is still developing.

Defensive Projection: Firstbase.

 

Body Type: 6-foot-2, 195-pound projectable frame.

Mechanics/Delivery: Slower tempo out the gate, shows good direction. Works out of a ¾ slot using some effort through release.

Fastball: At 73-77 mph the fastball shows above average run to the arm side.

Curveball: Breaking ball has good spin to it. Pitch is more slurvy and flashes some sharpness at 62-64 mph.

Changeup: Changuep is thrown with deceptive arm action at 66-67 mph and offers some late sinking action near the zone.

Pitchability: Good feel for all three offerings. Fastball has well above average movement. Breaking ball should develop into a true out pitch in the future.
