No windup with inward front side in delivery. Gets backside arm extension with some finish. Moderate 3/4 arm slot. Would like to see more balance in delivery. Fastball shows occasional cutting action (85-88 mph). Shows control of slurvy type breaking ball (72-73 mph) and some arm side run of change (76-77 mph).
Lauer is a big, lanky prospect that projects as a pitcher at the next level. Behind Piketon’s Zach Farmer, he is the top left-handed pitcher in Ohio’s class of 2013. He uses a low 3/4 to 3/4 arm slot and long, loose arm action to generate an 86-88 mph fastball with run. His most effective off-speed pitch is a 72-75 mph slider. His curveball sits at 74 mph and his changeup, which lacks movement and command, consistently sits at 78-79 mph. At times, he struggles with balance issues that disrupt the consistency of his delivery.
