James Corrigan: RHP/OF, (2023) St. Ignatius, OH. 5-foot-10, 165-pound athletic frame. During batting practice, Corrigan recorded an exit velocity of 89 mph. Begins in a closed balanced stance with a quick load, then uses a leg kick. Bat speed was raw, and showed a level swing plane. Athletic from the outfield, he made throws to the infield at velocities up to 71 mph; had soft hands, athletic smooth footwork, and a clean exchange. Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball out front. On the mound, showed consistent arm speed with a consistent arm action and a side arm angle. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who shows some effort. Showed an athletic balance point. Threw his fastball 80-81 mph; has running action and arm side command. His changeup (70-72) had fading action and arm side control. His 11/5 slider (68-70) has plus action.

Scouting Notes: Young arm out of St. Ignatius. Easy delivery with feel for his movements/repertoire. Ball comes out easily with his near sidearm slot making him a tough matchup on righties. Fastball was very affective and secondary arsenal was playable.
Fastball: 73-76mph.

Delivery Notes: On the mound Corrigan shows a deceptive delivery with some crossfire action to it. He throws from an arm slot that is slightly below true sidearm but wouldn’t be considered a ‘submarine’ slot.
Fastball: The fastball was 73-74 mph and showed some sink and arm side life.
Fastball Spin Rate: 1640-2080
Curveball: His breaking ball was 61-64 mph with a slurvey shape and minimal bite but would still be very effective when located well because of the natural deception of his delivery and arm slot.
Curveball Spin Rate: 1680-1780
Changeup: The changeup was 65-66 mph.

Hit: At the plate Corrigan shows minimal load and remains balanced throughout his swing. Shows fairly good bat to ball ability but doesn’t keep his barrel through the zone very long.
Top BP Exit Velocity: 80.6  mph
Top BP Distance: 249 feet
Offensive Projection: TBD
Field: In the outfield he shows average footwork and rhythm and plays through the ball fairly well. He shows an extremely low arm slot that is even lower than a true sidearm slot.
Throw: 70 mph from the outfield.
Defensive Projection: TBD

2/2/2019 Pitching

Body Type: 5-foot-9 145-pound prospect.

Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Threw from a low ¾ arm slot that bordered on side arm.

Fastball: Fastball was 68-72 mph and mostly true through the zone showing some arm side life at times.

Breaking Ball: Breaking ball showed slider spin and action at 61-62 mph. Showed lots of lateral break and bite for a pitch in the low 60’s.

Changeup: 53-56 mph changeup was mostly true through the zone.

Pitchability: Showed pretty good feel for his fastball and slider. The changeup appeared to be a developing pitch currently.

Role: Definite bullpen type. Fastball and slider combo showed well. Slider was an above average offering that shows room for improvement as he matures and throws the pitch harder.

Body Type: 5-foot-9 145 pound prospect.

Swing Mechanics: Starts in a medium, balanced setup. Showed a mini leg kick to initiate his load minimal load. Did have a slight armbar during the load which led to him casting his barrel around the zone a bit.

Hit: Average bat to ball ability.

Power: 70 mph exit velocity.
Offensive Projection: Presently shows the tools that would align best with a line drive singles approach to all fields.

Field: In the outfield he was a little hesitant with his actions. Showed overall good footwork but had a slow release.

Run: 7.81 60 yard dash.

Defensive Projection: Presently shows as a corner OF type, with arm strength probably pushing him to LF.
