Joey Canzoni: SS/2B, (2023) Walsh Jesuit, OH. Cincinnati Commit, 5-foot-10, 185-pound. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 94 mph. (67.2 mph bat speed average). (21.2 mph hand speed average). Starts in a balanced athletic stance with a quick load, then uses a controlled stride. Bat speed was quick, had a loose uphill swing plane and balanced finish. Performed well in the 60-yard dash, clocking a speedy time of 6.84. (Max spin ; Avg ).
Joey Canzoni: SS/2B, (2023) Walsh Jesuit, OH. 5-foot-10, 165-pound athletic frame. At the plate, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 96 mph. Started in a balanced stance with a smooth load, then used a small leg kick. Bat speed is average and has an uphill rotational swing plane. In the infield, his position velocity was registered at 84 mph. Above average In the outfield, had soft hands, athletic footwork, and a clean exchange. Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball one hand. The athletic recruit showcased his speed with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.75. On the mound, showed good arm speed, also used a ¾ arm angle with a quick arm action. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who uses easy effort. Has an athletic balance point. Produced a fastball that came in at 82-86 mph; showed glove side control and running action. His 11/5 curveball (70-71) has plus action. His changeup (70-72) showed arm side control and fading action.
Hit: Right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced stance. Easy, athletic load that lead to a balanced launch. Loose, whippy stroke with easy bat speed and advanced rotational acceleration. Going to be a good one.
Power: Easy gap pop. Good athlete.
Offensive Projection: Run producer ceiling.
Max BP Exit Velocity: 90 mph
Max BP Distance: 317 ft
Field: Moves light on his feet in the infield. Plays fast. Hands are above average fort class. Sure-handed guy who looks very athletic on the move.
Throw: Clean arm with above average strength.
Defensive Projection: MIF.
2/16/20 Position Player
Hit: A balanced upright setup with smooth athletic load. Path works uphill through the zone creating natural life. A nice combination of strength and speed to hands. Going to be a good one.
Power: 85 mph exit velocity off the tee. Gap abilities
Offensive Projection: Middle
Field: Sound glove instincts. Tools are intriguing with fair application. Good athlete.
Throw: 72 mph across the infield, has much more in the tank right now/played at game speed and didn’t really try to light up the radar gun.
Defensive Projection: MIF.
2/16/20 Pitching
Delivery Notes: Not the biggest buy but he shows some grit on the mound. A slow and simple delivery with quick arm action that could keep hitters off balance. Shows good balance and staying back on that back leg.
Fastball: Topped at 81 mph, late life, more in the tank.
Curveball: Between 65-70 mph, late/sharp down action.
