Arguably the most rare type of prospect to find in the state of Ohio is a true shorstop but Mason HS may have one in Max Johnson. Johnson was in a league of his own with the glove at the event, showing elite ball skills that make tough plays look routine. At the plate he just needs to add strength as swing is efficient and he has feel for the barrel. Looks to be a true switch with the present ability to spray that ball around the yard.

Johnson is really starting to make a name for himself on the defensive side of the ball. A true shortstop prospect that checks all the boxes. A little light with the bat presently but physical maturation should take care of that. The No. 8 prospect in the state starts at shortstop for a talent rich Mason HS team that is a bonafide state contender.
