On the mound, Dean worked a four-pitch mix — fastball at a solid 80-83, topped at 83 with arm-side run, alongside a 67-72 mph curveball with sweepy action, a 71-74 mph slider that plays more as a cutter, and a 76-76 mph changeup. Maximus Dean: OF/LHP, (2027) Hilliard Davidson, OH. 5-foot-10, 130-pound. (55.7 mph bat speed average). (19.1 mph hand speed average). Began in a quiet stance with a compact load, then used a toe tap stride. Had a simple flat swing plane, efficient bat speed and high finish. Solid from the outfield, he made throws to the infield at velocities up to 73 mph; had sure hands, consistent footwork, and a developing exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Had a consistent arm action with a high ¾ slot. Recorded a time of 8.28 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, using a compact arm action he showed consistent arm speed from a high ¾ arm angle. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who shows some effort. Has slight running action. (Max spin 1716; Avg 1569). Had gradual action on his 1/7 curveball. (Max spin 1758; Avg 1695).
