A right-handed pitching prospect with a 6-foot, projectable frame. Delivery is low effort and arm action is clean through a high-¾ slot. Ball comes out well and he displayed impressive feel on the hill for his class. Filled the zone up with all three offerings, led by his 74-75 mph. Expect much more velocity to come with physical maturation. Matzetz offers a breaking ball and changeup for his secondary arsenal, both projecting to be above average offerings. At the plate he has a higher ceiling from the right side. Actions are fluid and athletic. Already shows present barrel jump and projects for much more as he fills out athletic frame. Showed feel for the barrel with the ability to create regular back spin. In the outfield he plays under control while getting to the baseball in a timely fashion. Plays through with confidence prior to transitioning into his throws. Arm plays as a well above average tool for class.
A righty swinger that starts in a balanced setup. Barrel stays fluid as it moves to launch. Creates solid energy with his lower half. Path is mostly level with developing bat speed. Showed some twitch through the zone. Flashed impressive pull side pop. Much more juice to come as he matures physically. From the outfield he uses smooth footwork approaching the baseball. Plays through the baseball well and maintains momentum into his throws. On the mound he starts in the windup with a slower tempo. He uses a medium leg kick and throws from an over the top arm slot. Shows some effort in his throws. Showed good control over pitches in his outing. FB is straight and can be thrown anywhere. CB can be thrown to both sides of the strike zone for strikes.
On the mound the righty has a fluid tempo to his delivery that requires some effort. Stays tall at balance point and works through a near over the top slot. Arm is action is relatively clean with above average arm speed. Fastball works downhill at 72-73 mph. Expect more velocity to come as he matures physically. His best secondary offering was his knuckle curveball. The pitch was very sharp on an 11/5 plane at 62-64 mph. Was one of the better breaking balls we saw on the day. Also flashed a changeup with some feel at 65-69 mph. Slows arm a bit on the offering. Was very impressive during his outfield evaluation. Mechanically sound with athleticism to his actions. Plays through the ball confidently, maintaining momentum into his throws. Arm strength is well above average for his age. At the plate he starts balanced prior to his toe turn load. Hands stay fluid throughout loading sequence. Path is level and barrel gets on plane early. Consistently found the barrel in batting practice, showing the ability to use the whole field. Swing is efficient and pop will increase as he matures physically.
5-foot-5, 113-pound athletic build. On the mound the right hander used good tempo to a delivery he was able to repeat. Has three pitches to his arsenal with his fastball sitting 65-67 mph. Curveball showed decent depth with an 11/5 shape at 58-59 mph. Also flashed a changeup, maintaining fastball armspeed at 58-60 mph. At the plate he is able to create positive forward energy through a leg kick load and aggressive stride forward. Hands stay in a strong position during his stride before taking a level path to the ball. Consistently produced line drives in batting practice and reached a top exit velocity of 63 mph off the tee. In the outfield he used athletic footwork to approach the ball and showed confidence in his glove. Could get more out of his crow hop to easily improve his already impressive, 67 mph arm strength to home plate. Ran a 8.3 60-yard dash.
