6-30-2018: 6-foot, 165 pound, lean athletic frame with projection remaining. Similar body type to a young Nomar Garciaparra. Offensively, he has above average bat speed with quick hands. He’s a single type of hitter who relies on his speed to beat out infield hits. Has little to no pop in his bat and has not hit a home run in college yet. An excellent contact hitter who rarely strikes out, but the lack of power in his bat might worry scouts that he won’t be able to hit at the next level. Above average runner and excellent base stealer with great instincts on the basepaths. Defensively, he’s a good defender with good lateral range. Quick feet, but tends to get lazy with them, and that is when he makes errors. Fields the ball very well with soft hands. Due to his arm strength, I see him ending up at second base where he could become a plus defender. Overall, Zaragoza is a very talented defender with great contact skills. His lack of power might halt him from being a big league player but it will be interesting to see how far his bat can take him. (Joe Pera)
