Battled hamstring issues during the series and was limited to DH duties. When healthy he’s a premium athlete with the toolset of a top round prospect that includes a plus-plus run tool and above average raw power. For the season he’s batting .291 with 11 home runs and 13 stolen bases. During the Arkansas series he was 3-for-11 with a high EV of 101.7 mph. He has positional flexibility having played everyday roles for the Gamecocks in center field and second base in past seasons. He does do things a little unorthodox, but he is a four-year starter and has performed in the SEC. Wimmer will likely be selected in the top 10 rounds.
Cape Cod- Super utility type Braylen Wimmer (South Carolina) is long and athletic at 6-foot-4, 200 pounds. After slashing .282/.383/.424 over 93 plate appearances on the Cape he's a breakout candidate for the 2022 draft. A plus-plus runner underway with power in his stick, Wimmer is also a versatile defender with an average arm. If he can improve his swing/miss from the 2021 spring season (13 BB vs 60 SO in 224 plate appearances), the Oklahoma native has top five round potential.
A plus-plus runner and has power, evidenced by a 400+ blast to dead center field that left the bat with a 105 EV. At 6-foot-4, 200 pounds the athletic Wimmer is also a versatile defender with an average arm and projects as an early round prospect in 2022.
A a recent South Carolina commits, 6-foot-1, 150-pound frame with long legs, very projectable. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a balanced, athletic set-up with rhythm in his hands. Uses a moderate, hanging stride for timing, very quick hands, and flat bat path. In BP, shows a pull gap, flat approach, was consistently on time and found barrels, one of the best rounds of the event. Exit velo of 89 mph that will continue to rise as he puts on size and strength. Runs a 6.76 60. Defensively, shows advanced hands and feet with consistently clean and confident actions. Throws from a low-3/4 slot, 81 mph across the diamond with accuracy. Easily one of the top SS at the Future Games.
