6-foot-4, 200-pound starter’s look on the mound with room to fill out physically. Took the rubber in the tournament’s opening act and dominated, punching out 12 batters in a complete game one-hit shutout, earning a spot on our all-tournament team. Fastball carries into the zone from a high slot, has been up to 90 mph in the past. A high-follow uncommitted name in Oklahoma’s incoming senior group.
7/28/21
Body: 6-foot-3, 170-pound long limbed and projectable frame with room for added strength and size in the future.
Hit: RHH. At the plate starts with a neutral stance and athletic posture. Hands get set below shoulder height tucked tight to the body with a relaxed back elbow and slightly wrapped barrel angle. Uses a traditional and simple stride to get to even weight distribution with the feet. Gets the backside through with rotation and also has a rotational bat path with a strong top hand finish. Level bat path and line drive approach. Maintains balance throughout the swing. Plays the ball out in front of the plate with a pull side approach. Has some strength at contact with a long-levered swing.
Power: 88 mph exit velocity off the tee and 80 mph exit velocity in BP.
Arm: RH. INF-78 mph. Over the top arm slot with a stiff/choppy arm action and hand working across the chest at release.
Defense: In the infield fields the ball out in front of the body with soft hands. Shows good footwork around the bag with hips and shoulders getting turned into the proper positioning on throws to second base.
Run: 5.35 runner to first base.
Delivery: On the mound uses short and simple footwork around the rubber to get to a high balance point. Quick tempo with body raising up as lead leg works to balance point. Gets weight fully stacked on back leg with good leg drive and push off the rubber. Gets good extension down the mound and lands to a firm plant leg. Works from the first base side of the rubber and lands directionally down the center of the mound. Strong rotation off the plant leg finishing off to the first base side.
Arm Action: High arm slot with hand working down out of the glove and good overall hand speed.
FB: 80-84 mph, strong horizontal movement with some tilt to the bottom of the zone.
CB: 68-72 mph, short and early break with 10/4 shape and light depth.
CH: 70-76 mph, good arm side fade with fastball hand speed.
