A 6-foot-1, 165-pound frame with strength and athleticism. Offensively, a right-handed hitter, middle-opposite field, mostly flat approach. Hits from an upright, balanced set-up with rhythm in the hands. Uses a smooth load and leg kick for timing, some stiffness in the hands, high and abbreviated finish. Found mostly barrels, 88 mph exit velo. An elite runner for his age, Murphy runs a 6.72 laser-timed 60. Defensively, confident and smooth actions, throws from an over the top slot with carry, 78 mph to the dish.
A lean and muscular 6-foot, 170-pound frame. On the mound, works from a controlled delivery with good rhythm and an up, down, and out leg kick before pulling through a high-¾ slot with arm speed. Fastball sits 81-83 mph with some downhill tilt. Curveball shows near 12/6 shape with some late action at the bottom of the zone thrown with full arm speed, 70-71 mph. In the game, Murphy put away hitters, throwing both pitches for strikes. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an athletic, slightly open, and back leg heavy set-up with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a smooth load with a short stride, hands are short and quick to the ball, bat path is flat to contact with good extension, quality leg drive. In BP, shows a gap-to-gap, flat approach with consistent strength and pop, some barrels. Exit velo of 88 mph. Runs a 6.72 60. Defensively, shows clean and controlled actions with some athleticism. Throws from a high-¾ slot using a long arm action in the back, some accuracy and carry with arm strength, 84 mph. In the game, plays to his run tool keeping the ball flat or on the ground.
