Griffin, the Mizzou commit and 2020 prospect will be getting his first look at competition in Ontario as he faced rainouts in the first weekend. The undersiized lefty goes right at hitters with three pitches and does not back down. The arm is quick and clean, fastball been up to 88 and sat mid 80’s last year. Curveball is improved and changeup backs up well off his fastball. Works both sides, is efficient and when he is getting his off-speed over for strikes, he is one of the most dominant pitchers in the province.
11.10.18 Griffin committed to Missouri not long after his Future Games appearance. Spark plug lefty with high compete level and a fastball that works in the 85-89 range while he fills it up and commands the zone with his heater. Secondary stuff continues to improve and Griffin has a knack for getting outs and making pitches when he needs to. There is some deception there and if the breaking ball can become more polished over the next two years, Griffin has a chance to be a big time arm at the collegiate level.
10.01.17 Named to Junior National Team Fall Instructional Roster
4.2.17 The 2019 left-hander has made continuous strides over time as Griffin is now listed at 5-foot-11, 150-pounds with wiry strength. Arm is quick and uses lower half in delivery, sat 82-83 mph in his pen, repeated delivery well with arm speed out front and a clean arm in the back. Curveball had 1/7 shape with tight rotation which he threw for strikes at 68-70 mph. Changeup had some fading action at 74-77 mph, was around zone with pitch, at times did get underneath and push. Three pitch guy, worked with tempo and confidence, moved well down the mound and room for more velocity to come. One of the top prospects in his class, pitchability is there with command and upside, one to watch closely.
3.5.16 Young 2019 grad with polish to his game. Left-handed arm listed at 5-foot-9, 130-pounds. Not much to him at the moment but lots of time to grow and add strength. Polished mechanics for age, good tempo and body control, arm is clean in the back and can get out front from 3/4 arm slot. Fastball for strikes at 76 mph, changeup had some feel, along with curveball, worked out of same arm slot for all three pitches. Easy actions and repeated delivery well. Will be one to keep an eye on. Good looking lefty in the 2019 class.
