Ontario Insider: Canadian Junior National Roster Announced - A Look at The Arms From Ontario

As the Canadian Junior National Team announced its roster yesterday for its annual Spring Training Trip to St. Petersburg, and as always, it’s highlighted by the match-up versus the Toronto Blue Jays in Dunedin at Florida Auto Exchange on March 17, which typically sees many Canadians in the lineup for Toronto, as well many familiar big league names.

This year 6-foot-7 Oklahoma commit Ben Abram will receive the start followed by another big righty in 6-foot-6 Eric Cerantola. The Ontario natives will be backed up by BC right-hander Tate Dearing and then scheduled to close is newly added right-hander Braden Halladay.

The three Canadian arms will be watched closely as all will get looks and receive interest from MLB clubs. Along with the Abram and Cerantola  see 2018 right-hander Griffin Hassall along with two 2019 lefties in Caden Griffin and Keegan Pulford-Thorpe. See a few quick hits below along with their scheduled rotation for the trip.

See here for roster, rotation, and schedule.

Ben Abram RHP / Georgetown District, ON / 2018

Report: The Oklahoma commit is one of the veteran members of the national team and will get the prestige start against the Blue Jays at Dunedin Stadium on March 17. Abram has developed as a pitcher over the last year showing the ability to command 4 pitches and throw any pitch in any count. We saw him end of Feb. and he looked healthy and ready to go as he was 87-89 with his fastball.

Pitching Schedule:
March 17 vs Toronto (Dunedin)
March 21 vs Philadelphia (Walter Fuller)
