A lean, athletic shortstop, Jackson had a solid couple of games to start his season. Immediately standing out with his bat, Jackson’s short, smooth lefty stroke resulted in a single the other way to start his day. He would soon add on a couple more base-hits to both sides of the field, and later displayed his plate discipline, laying off a couple of close pitches to take a walk. When he didn't get on, he put together quality at-bats on this day. He will cut his swing off, get out front with his hands, and with his hands starting low he has trouble with high pitches, but he has plenty of time to make the necessary adjustments. His actions in the infield are clean; in game one he started at shortstop, and in one of his few chances, he came in on a slow rolling grounder, fielded and threw on the run flawlessly. In game two, he made a couple of routine plays without any problems, while also starting a double play with a quick shovel transfer, and finishing a play with good footwork and an accurate throw. The 2021 infielder has a bright future and will be an interesting watch throughout this season.
