Gillis, a Bossier Parish CC commit, was easily among the top 2022s at Sunday’s event. At 6-foot-4, 215-pounds, there’s current strength and physicality from the right-side of the plate. The swing plays up the middle and to the pull side with consistent exit velocities in the low 90s. The right-handed hitter’s strength will play to his advantage at the next level.

Gillis, a young 2022 was interesting at the plate, as there was looseness and some quick twitch in his hands and rhythm in the swing. Small bat waggle gets his hands started and had an exit velo of 87, very good for his current age. Defensively, worked out behind the dish and at first. Arm gets low and underneath the ball on his throws from the crouch, still work to do on the fundamentals but time is on his side. The bat is the best tool at the moment for Gillis, and someone to keep an eye on as he continues to develop.
