Catcher Michael Quick didn’t have his best stuff last night at Scout Day and quickly made up for it with a stellar game at the dish and behind it. He was quiet behind the plate for Ethan Price who was up to 91 and had the chance to show off the arm, catching a runner at second base. Had a top exit velocity of 94 mph last night and it translated in-game. He has quick hands at the plate and they’re short to the ball. His swing plays to all fields and he barreled a few balls, driving one up the middle for a single.

2022 C/SS Michael Quick was easily the biggest positional standout on the day with his tools and feel for the game. He has good metrics across the board, including a Scout Day best, 6.90 60-yard dash on a tough track. Defensively, his game plays behind the dish and at shortstop, although his athleticism could see him play other positions on the field. At the plate he’s a gap-to-gap hitter from the left-side where he showed strength to all fields. Quick would be a great late addition for college’s still looking for impact 2022s. 

The LHH catcher is one of the more athletic and intriguing players from the 2022 class. There is hand eye coordination at the plate with strength in his wiry 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame. He does not get cheated and shows bat speed and a level stroke from a strong hitting position that stays balanced from a wide base in the box. He’ll use the whole field and spray the ball with line drives while the 7.40 sixty will play quicker in game. There is arm strength to work with from SS and catcher positions, but will need to clean up some footwork behind the dish to get the most out of his ability. The hands work and he can receive, some fine tuning and polishing ove the winter and Quick can make a big jump in his development.
