Styles, a 6-foot, 165-pound infielder was solid all week long, deservingly earning a spot on the all-tourney team. His great week was wrapped up with an outstanding Day 5 which included a single, double, and triple, showing his ability to work line-to-line and use his speed which has been up to 7.00. On Scout Day, Styles recorded the third best outfield throwing velocity of 87 mph, while also topping out at 84 mph off the tee. The uncommitted outfielder was named our senior steal during the week, and it shouldn't be long before the Nationals product finds a home.
9/9/17 - Styles is a left-handed hitting player with versatility defensively. The bat and feel profile the best with him, along with his 7.19 sixty running time that should get quicker with his fluid actions and room to add strength to his 5-foot-11 frame. The hands work to the ball well with feel to hit, stays on the ball and can produce some bat speed with an 85 mph exit velo. Defensively, picks it up in the infield, hands are average, room to soften them up, also took reps in the outfield, speed may play more in the OF. Either way, toolsy guy with hands that show some upside.
2/20/17 2018 grad, Styles has added weight and grown as he is now listed at 5-foot-11, 160-pounds. Ran a lasered time 60 of 7.35 with regular effort. The infielder moved well side to side, making the plays and using a 3/4 arm slot with a velocity of 79 mph across the diamond, hands showed some softness to them while he was able to get rid of the ball with a quick transfer. Offensively, left-handed bat that starts from wide, balanced base, rock back to load with lower half while hands are up and in good position to hit. Generates some bat speed to contact, swing is short and it numerous line drives in the cage. Gets good extension through ball with slight uphill finish with bat plane that allows him to get the ball in the air. Like how the bat profiles, if Styles continues to add strength he should continue to see his numbers improve and have a chance to incorporate more power into swing. 60-Yard Dash: 7.35 Exit Velocity: 77 INF Velocity: 79
1/23/16 5-foot-10, 145-pound with a long, lanky frame. At the plate, the lefty starts from a wide, open stance, slight bend in his knees, holds the bat straight up, hands high, quiet load. Keeps his hands inside the ball, good extension, balanced with his lower half, clocked a 76 mph exit velocity. Defensively needs to be a lighter on his feet, stays down on the ball, 74 mph arm across the infield. Styles has the frame and the means to fill out, and as a 2018 graduate he’ll be an interesting follow in high school.
