2024 Ontario Future Games Trials
2027 RHP Tanner Wiens is one of the premiere arms in Ontario’s 2027 class and there’s a high ceiling on the mound as the 6-foot-3, 190-pound right-hander continues to develop. Wiens moves well on the mound with good direction downhill and arm speed. The Fieldhouse Pirates prospect continues to fill up the zone when we have eyes on him and the fastball sat in the 83-84mph range (70% Zone%). He’s shown good feel for the splitter at 73-76mph and also features a short, tight slider at 72-73mph which has been sharp in the past and continues to develop. Highly intriguing stuff here and should garner college attention over the summer as his recruitment opens up on August 1st.

2/17/25

2025 Ontario Preseason Invitational
This was our first look at Wiens in 2025 and he continues to flash why he’s a premiere arm in the 2027 class. Continues to stand out amongst his peers with an athletic, desirable pitchers frame at 6-foot-3, 190-pounds and looks to be more growing to come. The fastball sat 82-84 from a high-¾ slot and does a good job tunnelling his three pitches. The secondary stuff is able to get outs already with both still developing as the tight slider sat 70-73 with a diving splitter at 73-74mph. Wiens will be an arm college coaches will want to take a look at this summer as he makes his rounds in the United States.

10/01/24

2024 Toronto Fall ID
Wiens was the big winner at the 2024 Toronto Fall ID as the 8th-ranked prospect in the 2027 class put together the best bullpen of the day. Length in the frame at 6-foot-2, 170-pounds with plenty of room to fill out and add strength going forward. The fastball sat 83-84 T85 and was able to fill up the zone with the pitch. Featured a slider at 73-75mph and there’s feel for a good splitter with late fade and horizontal action at 75-77mph. Wiens will be a high-follow this upcoming summer for college coaches as recruitment slowly creeps closer for the 2027 class.
