5/5/16 Strong, 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame. Aggressive posture, some funk in delivery, gets over rubber well, and pitches out of a three-quarter slot. FB sat 78-82, touching 83, with run/sink on the armside of the plate and occasionally a bit of comeback when thrown to the gloveside. Diving CH at 70-73 is thrown out of the same slot, and with the same armspeed, as the FB. Showed an ability to double-up on it and use it against RHH effectively. FB plays up due to CH. Also mixed in a loopy CB at 67-70. Retired last 14 hitters he faced in a CG two-hitter with two walks and seven strikeouts.

2/14/16 6-foot-3 190-pound righty displayed increased velocity since we last saw him sitting 80-83 from a high 3/4 arm slot with a long arm action. The junior gets downhill well and displayed the ability to hold his velo from the stretch. Welch flashed a solid feel for a 73 mph slider and a 70 mph curveball with 11/5 shape. He displayed a 74 mph changeup with some arm-side run at fastball arm speed giving him a feel for four pitches.

7/1/15 6-foot-2, 175-pound right-handed pitcher sat 79-81 from a 3/4 arm slot with some arm side run to his fastball. Welch flashed two breaking balls that he threw consistently for strikes. His 66 mph curveball showed 11/5 rotation while a 70 mph slider had a later, shorter break. Welch also displayed a 71 mph changeup thrown at near fastball arm speed.
