Notes

Comments

2/12/22

Physical: 5-foot-10, 180 pounds; Athletic, proportional build. 6.98 runner in the 60.

Offensively: RHH. Open setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Short take back with the hands with an up and down stride for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing a strong lower half. Showed a sweeping swing path. with a two handed finish. More flyballs than line drives and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 96 MPH via Trackman. Smooth swing with exceptional barrel control

Defensively: Starts with an upright /tall setup; walks into ready position while showing active feet. Hands are out in front with a clean transfer. Moderate arm circle from a high 3/4 arm slot.  INF - 86 MPH. Good routes around the ball, setting himself up with positive momentum into the target

7/28/21

Physical: Athletic, proportional 5-foot-11, 180lb frame with feel in both phases. 6.96 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Balanced, even stance with a loose/rhythmic operation at a wider attack. Utilized a controlled lift and replace stride to initiate the bat head through a violent, slightly uphill path into the hitting zone. Efficient lower half drive that leads the swing, moving cleanly into a stiff front side while producing good sequencing during batting practice. Worked up the chain and notched doubles power to the pull-side at a 60% fly ball rate (via Trackman) good enough for a 361 foot batted ball distance at his peak. Some of the better connection and rotational scores with sneaky, consistent power potential down the road (T94 mph bat-exit velocity).

Defensively: The primary shortstop handled himself with active footwork, beating the ball to the spot with right-left actions before fielding. Able to maintain tempo to the target and keep feet moving, releasing from a lower ¾ slot (moderate intent, 79 mph arm) with good posture in the legs. Covered ground to his left and finished off accurate throws.

6/15/21

Physical: Strong, athletic 5-foot-11, 180lb frame with feel for his body in all phases. 6.84 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Open, narrow stance with the hands operating loosely above the shoulder in rhythm to start. Utilized a short lift and replace stride initiating the bat head through a slightly uphill path into the hitting zone. Posted a T92 mph bat-exit velocity with above-average control (57% line drive rate via Trackman) and added obvious doubles power to the LCF gap notching a 332 foot batted ball distance on a swing for extra-bases. Carried the confidence over to game action with two hits to the pull-side, coming into the event fresh off a dominant HS season where he crushed multiple clutch HR’s in the late-innings.

Defensively: The primary shortstop used a hop in the “prep step” arriving on-time with smooth footwork to the baseball. The hands worked easily out in front, funneling inward at a quick pace and releasing from a high ¾ slot across the diamond. Able to maintain 4.20 second footwork adding a T81 mph arm across the diamond.

2/06/21

Physical: Strong, well put-together 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame with athleticism throughout. 7.06 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Bent, open stance with the hands starting with rhythm over the back shoulder at ear height. Utilized a toe tap stride in order to initiate the bat head through a slightly uphill path and into the hitting zone; plenty of fluidity at impact allowing for burst to the pull-side gap. Absolute standout round of batting practice exuding tons of strength in the lower half, hit the ball hard where it was pitched and really put good swings on pitches out over the plate (64% hard hit rate). Recorded a peak bat-exit velocity of 95 mph with room for more; a 27 mph hand speed points to ability to handle velocity. A high rotational acceleration score (23 G’s) hints at a huge power ceiling down the line as well, which played admirably in a mostly lofty approach (46% fly ball rate). Looking at a 373 foot peak batted ball distance, you can see that the power has already arrived.

Defensively: The primary shortstop featured smooth, advantageous actions in either direction; played from right to left through the fielding window and towards the target with a soft glove hand working out in front of the toes. Got the body downhill early on in routes creating a quick first step and big time range on the left side of the field. Got it over in a hurry using a strong and accurate 83 mph arm strength during defensive evaluations.
