4/10/18 Devereux came on in relief in this one, working with his fastball and curveball. There is some effort in the delivery, but he consistently repeated his mechanics and arm slot. The moving parts help create some deception, and he worked in the 86-88 MPH range with the fastball. The fastball displayed armside run, but in this tight one, all it took was one mistake up in the zone for him to be punished. His curve was up to 75 MPH, generating late bite. Looking forward to seeing him again this season as a starter. Notable mound presence and rhythm, working with intent and focus. This 2018 Pittsburgh commit has the type of profile that could lead to early time in a college bullpen as soon as next year.

Comments
3/26/16 Velo was down from previously seen (82-83 on this day), but noteworthy from this outing was the Wake Forest commit's improved change-up, for which he showed much more trust than in the past. He threw it early in the count, wasn't afraid to use it against right-handed hitters, and got a number of swings-and-misses with it. Also showed a feel for varying his looks and showed quick feet on two pickoff attempts.
4/18/15 Wake Forest commit sat 83-84 out of a high-3/4 slot and got downhill well. Showed very good feel for spinning his 69-72 CB. Still learning to trust his change-up. Loose, clean arm action and limited effort in delivery. Athletic on mound; made a play on a bunt in which he slid on one knee to field the ball, popped up to his feet, and made the throw to first base.
11/1/14 Devereux wasn't at his best, but still flashed some of the ability that make him one of the most coveted freshman arms in the country. The baby-faced 6-foot-1, 170-pounder is athletic on the mound with a loose, clean arm action. His fastball was 80-82 on this day, but reports had it multiple ticks higher over the spring and summer. He also flashed a curveball at 69-70 that has a chance to be a swing-and-miss offering, along with a change-up at 71-74.
