Episcopal Academy 6, Malvern Prep 4
While the weather remains cold, baseball season is here, and on Tuesday afternoon Episcopal Academy visited Malvern Prep to open Inter-Academic League play. Malvern Prep, the defending champion in the PAISAA and a perennial contender, sent right-handed pitcher Billy Corcoran to the hill. The Pittsburgh commit faced off against Episcopal Academy's Cole Dumont, an uncommitted right-hander ranked No. 83 in the PA Class of 2019.
Corcoran started the game with a bang, logging strikeouts for five of the first six outs for Malvern Prep. Dumont struggled early, as the Friars were able to score two runs in the bottom of the first inning when Connor Dillon poked a ball through the left side of the infield. The game remained at 2-0 until the bottom of the third, when Elon commit Connor Offshack, smacked an RBI single, which was followed up by another Dillon RBI.
It was during the top of the 4th that Corcoran's no-hit bid was broken up and Episcopal Academy's offense began to show some life. In the 5th inning, the Churchmen finally got on the board. After an infield single and walks, Notre Dame commit Jack O'Reilly laced a ball down the first base line, plating two runners.
Tied 4-4 in the top of the sixth, Malvern Prep turned to another one of their high caliber arms, Pitt commit Brady Devereux. With a runner on first base senior shortstop Isaiah Payton, a Penn State commit, ripped into a fastball up in the zone for a two-run bomb to right field, giving Episcopal Academy a 6-4 lead that they would not relinquish.

Payton took the mound in the bottom of the sixth inning to slam the door shut on a Malvern Prep comeback, striking out two and keeping the ball in the infield. The win moved the needle forward for Episcopal Academy, moving them to 3-5 on the year (1-9 Inter-Ac). Despite taking the loss, Malvern still sits at 10-4 this season (0-1 Inter-Ac).
