Cameron Simmons is a 6-foot-4, 190-pound OF/RHP from Spring-Ford HS. He is a terrific athlete with plus speed and arm strength.
4/10/17 Simmons is a 6-foot-4, 190-pound athlete that is toolsy with a great frame. Has above average arm strength and foot speed (especially for someone his size), plus good bat speed. Made adjustment after strikeout on ball away in first at-bat to smoke opposite field single in second at-bat. Ran a 4.25 home-to-1B on a barreled ground ball to SS.
4/5/19: Fourth-year junior who returns to the Cavalier's lineup after missing all of the 2018 season with left shoulder surgery. Simmons is athletic with a power/speed tools package and a projectable 6-foot-4, 200 pound frame. Long-strider who ran a 4.04 down the line from the right side during his second at-bat, grounding into a 6-4 fielder's choice. Showed above average raw power during batting practice with more bat strength than bat speed. Gets pushy with the bat through the zone and relies on his above average bat strength for power. Showed some weight transfer with very little load and separation. His power production may benefit by simply loosening up his hands/wrists and just let the bat head fly with some barrel whip. In the outfield he patrols the big field well. He's an instinctive, natural defender who reads the ball off the bat and uses his speed to cover the gaps. With an average arm he looks very comfortable in center and should be able to stay there for many years. Simmons projects to be a Day Two draft talent. (Seifert)
