Physical: Lean, athletic 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame with twitch in the actions.
Pitching: LHP - Pace in the delivery with a hip coil at the top of a high leg lift allowing for impressive arm speed through a high slot on the front side with a moderate takeaway. Showcased solid flexibility on the release with good extension allowing a 79-82 mph FB to play slightly up in velocity. Mixed in a swing and miss 69-72 mph CB showing hard 1/7 shape and commanded a 74-75 mph CH at near fastball arm-speed. Great leg drive on all pitches and should expect a velocity increase in the near future as he continues to add strength.
Pride Workout (February 10, 2018)
Vida is a 5-foot-8 129 pound LHP/1B with an athletic frame. He ran a 7.39 60 with a Home to 1st time of 4.55 from the left side. Offensively - Sets up with an even stance with a moderate leg kick. Exit velo was 74 MPH off a tee; really aggressive approach to the ball and showed power potential to the pull side. Work on using the middle of the field and not losing hands to far back in the load phase of swing to prevent lead arm from armbar. Defensively - Active defender with soft hands; infield velocity was 69 MPH; sometimes plays a little too low to the ground which can limit mobility into his shuffle step and throw. Pitching - Sets up on the 3B side of the rubber, uses a high release point Max FB 72 MPH, sitting 71-72 MPH...CB 60-61 MPH showed the ability to get good spin on his CB. Very athletic 2022 grad who brings game speed to the table.
6/6/2018:
Vida ran a 7.57-60. Arm strength from the outfield measured at 71-MPH. Fastball ranging from 71-72-MPH, maxing out at 72-MPH with a curveball sitting at 59-MPH.
