11/1/14 Hood is an above average defender at the hot corner with very good hands, easy arm strength across the diamond (80-mph today; has been 85 in the past), and an ability to make plays on the move. Showcasing behind the plate for the first time, he posted 1.96-2.10 pop times with a 77-mph arm out of the crouch. The right-handed hitter's swing is a bit uphill, but he gets the barrel to the ball and has the ability to drive a gap (86-mph exit velocity). The 6-foot, 170-pounder also ran a 6.93 60-yard dash.
6/18/14 Hood showcased the skill set that currently has him ranked No. 11 in the PA Class of 2016. The 6-foot, 165-pound right-handed hitter topped all corner infielders with a 6.91 60-yard dash. He showcased fluid actions at 3B with good range and the ability to make plays on the move with an 85 mph arm across the diamond. The right-handed hitter displayed a balanced swing from a square stance with a high hands load. Hood displayed an 88 mph bat exit velocity and the ability to drive the baseball with regularity during his round of batting practice. The junior went 1-for-6 with a double off an upper 80s fastball in game play.
5/14/14 Hood is a solid framed right-handed hitter. Starts slightly open and strides to square. Hands worked and let the ball travel on an opposite field single his second plate appearance. Ran a 4.31 home-to-1B time his next trip up. Played SS, but projects as 3B. Easy arm strength with carry across the diamond. Showed good hands and ability to make slow roller play.
2/15/14 Hood was one of the most impressive prospects in attendance. The 6-foot, 165-pound 3B has a very athletic frame that has room to fill out. He showed fluid actions defensively with a solid 82 mph arm across the diamond. Hood registered a 4.42 home-to-1B time and turned in a very solid round of batting practice. The right-handed hitters starts from a wide stance and uses a lift and replace stride foot. He showcase a flat bat path and a bat exit velocity of 86 mph with excellent rhythm to his swing.
11/2/13 Hood is a 6-foot, 165-pound prospect with an athletic frame that has room to fill out considerably. He showcased athletic actions and a 78 mph arm across the diamond from 3B. Hood has middle infield quality feet and hands, but his frame suggests that 3B will remain his primary position. The right-handed hitter showcased some gap power and a 90 mph bat exit velocity at the plate. Hood gets to full extension consistently and displayed the ability to drive the baseball to all fields.
