6/12/18 - 6-foot, 160-pound left-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Displayed solid rhythm throughout and above average feel for the barrel during a solid round of BP. Registered a 75 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 6.91 60-yard dash. Displayed fluid actions defensively with an ability to make plays on the move. Likely a second baseman at the next level could potentially stay on the left-side with additional strength gains and physical maturation.
7/18/17 - 6-foot, 160-pound left-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and flashed looseness to his swing with rhythm throughout. Displayed solid feel for the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 76 mph, a number that should rise quickly with strength gains and physical maturity. Ran a 7.21 60-yard dash and showcased accurate 79 mph arm strength across the diamond defensively. Showed active feet and fundamental actions best suited currently at second base.
6/20/17 5-foot, 160-pound right-handed hitter starts from square set up and initiates swing with lift and replace. Pontoli flashed a rhythmic load, loose hands, and a direct path to baseball with a bat exit velocity of 76 mph. An aggressive weight shift and hip turn were demonstrated. A solid feel for the barrel was exhibited in BP as Pontoli consistently squared balls to all fields.
Defensively, Attacked ball using good angles to get proper hop. Routinely played ball out front and bottom up demonstrating soft glove hand and clean, quick transfer. Foot work allows 78 mph arm strength from left side to play up.
