6/13/21

Physical: Lean/athletic 5-7, 150lb frame with feel for his body and room to continue holding strength as he matures. 7.32 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Began from an open, upright stance with rhythm above the shoulder; utilized a high leg lift in order to initiate the hands through a short, flat path into the hitting zone. Handsy, top of the order approach with quick turns on the inner half yielding success to the pull-side during his batting practice round. Recorded an 80 mph peak bat-exit velocity with ability to get even more into the legs from a wide attack at footstrike. Matched pitch plane extremely well with an 80% on-plane efficiency via Blast Motion.

Defensively: The primary backstop demonstrated a soft glove hand from left-knee down setup when receiving, showing confidence on the corners. Pop times varied from 1.92-2.00 with a lighting quick release at ¾ slot, slight pre-catch rhythm and higher setups, but actions will play at a high level in game. Twitchy movements in the dirt, blocking everything with soft walls facing slightly downhill. Strong 75 mph arm with repeatable carry to the bag.

Pitching: Started from the stretch only, working towards a balanced, even stack position before driving out to a medium stride position. Short, high ¾ arm slot that played on time at release; held the zone from 76-78 mph with low-spin, sink at times. Mixed a short, gradual 65-67 mph breaker that is still developing a consistent feel for spin.

Utilized a quick leg kick stride coupled with a slight pause in the hands as the load mechanism allowing for a slightly uphill barrel path through the hitting window. Demonstrated feel for a strong lower half with some twitch and showcased favoritism to the pull-side during batting practice with ability to get the top hand through. Hit into a stiff front side yielding a whippy 81 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball.

Defensively: The primary catcher carried the same characteristics from his offensive round over to defense with a low setup into the lower half with quality receiving skills featuring a soft glove hand at the catch point. Pop times ranged from 1.96-2.01 utilizing above-average straight line footwork towards the target and quick, repeatable transfers out of a high ¾ slot with a moderate takeaway. Beat the ball to the spot while blocking, creating recovery ability with soft chest angles on either side of the plate. C - 74 mph
