Displayed athletic actions defensively with accurate 81 mph arm strength from the outfield.
2/14/16 5-foot-9, 155-pound left-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a short lift-and-replace stride from a deep hand load to initiate his swing. The displayed a line drive approach with a bottom hand dominated swing with a bat exit velocity of 80 mph. Pate ran a 6.87 60-yard dash and displayed 78 mph arm strength with some cut action from the outfield.
Utilized a compact delivery with a stab out of the glove into an over-the-top slot. FB sat 72-74, touching 75, with occasional cut. Best pitch was a solid mid-60s 12/6 CB with some depth for which he showed a good feel and command. Also showed a straight CH with occasional sink at 69-71 that was firm relative to his FB, and a SL that was virtually indistinguishable from his curveball on this day.

Defensively, despite some arm soreness that prevented him from pitching, he showcased 79-mph arm strength.
