2/14/16 6-foot-4, 230-pound left-handed hitter with big power potential (94-mph exit velocity this event; has been up to 97 previously). Starts from a slightly open stance with small rock of weight to backside, and keeps head still. Struggled to be on time and elevate the baseball during his BP round at this event, but that hasn't been an issue in the past (including when he launched a towering home run in game action last July). Defensively, despite not having the quickest feet, he exhibited solid, fundamental footwork on double play feeds, along with 70-mph arm strength.
8/9/15 Trautman continued to showcase legitimate home run power to the pull side with a bat exit velocity of 91 mph. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound left-handed hitter barreled the baseball repeatedly in batting practice from a square stance. Trautman continued to show his power stroke in games with two doubles, one of which slammed off the fence in right-center field. The junior ran a solid 7.28 60-yard dash and showed capable actions at first base with an accurate 70 mph arm across the diamond.
7/21/15 6-foot-4, 220-pound left-handed hitter. Hit from square stance with short stride. Creates lift in swing; launched multiple home runs in BP and went down and got a curveball in his first at-bat for a pullside bomb in game action. Gets into front side early with mostly a top-half swing, so there could be even more power in him when he more fully incorporates his backside. Ran a 7.53 60-yard dash. Showcased 97-mph exit velocity and 72-mph arm strength during workout. Acquitted himself well defensively, showing an ability to pick throws out of the dirt.
6/17/15 6-foot-4, 220-pound left-handed hitter. Hit from a slightly closed stance with knee-to-knee stride. Hands worked with fairly simple, easy stroke and has legitimate power potential. Battled well left vs left. Showcased 93-mph exit velocity and 70-mph arm strength. Doesn’t have the quickest feet defensively, but exhibited a solid glovehand.
2/22/15 Big, physical 6-foot-4, 220 pound prospect that swings from the left side. He starts slightly open and uses a toe tap to trigger his swing. His swing is a bit longer, but shows good loft and gets extension. He is an upper body type hitter at this stage, but should only improve as he cleans up the use of his lower half. Top exit velocity of 92 mph off the tee. Ran an impressive 4.6 home to first time given his size. In the field, he uses short arm action through a high-¾ arm slot. Top velocity of 59 mph across the infield. Shows some softness with his hands around the bag.
