A number of prospects had impressive performances on the first day of the 2015 PBR Mid-Atlantic Border Battle at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland. Day two action today will culminate with defensive evaluations and two more nine inning games. Following is a brief look at some of the top performances from Day One action.
+ 2017 1B Jake Trautman (Pittsburgh Central Catholic - pictured right) impressed with the top bat exit velocity on the day (97 mph) and a solid round of batting practice that included a deep home run to right field on his final swing. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound left-handed hitter proceeded to belt a home run to right field in his first at bat in game action.
+ Uncommitted senior SS/OF Nico Popa (Seton-La Salle Catholic) registered a blazing 6.50 60-yard dash to top all prospects in attendance and flashed his athleticism with an 87 mph bat exit velocity.
+ 2017 Nick Stoner (Elizabethtown) showed that he is making steady progress from an injury that cut his high school season short. The 6-foot, 160-pound righty topped at 86 mph from the mound and flashed signs of more to come from a deliberate delivery with a loose arm action.
+ Uncommitted senior outfielder Alex Peterson (North Penn) displayed a well rounded skill set. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound left-handed hitter ran a 6.97 60-yard dash and barreled the baseball with a fluid, line drive swing in all three at bats, including two singles.
+ Uncommitted senior MIF Jimmy Farrow (Avon Grove), went 2-for-3 in game action with a double following a solid round of batting practice. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound right-handed hitter also registered an 87 mph bat exit velocity.
+ 2017 IF Brock Kauffman flashed a 90 mph bat exit velocity and the ability to play multiple infield position. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 with a double in game action.
