Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
7.10.18 - 5-foot-10, 160-pound primary pitcher sat 85-87 from a 3/4 arm slot with arm-side run to his fastball. Repeats deliver well with a side rocker step to begin and hip coil that adds to deception. Broad shoulders and quick arm action should lead to strength gains and velocity spikes moving forward. Two-seam fastball shows heavy arm-side run and sink when he stays on top of it. Slider shows late, sharp break and is an above average out pitch at this time. The addition of a quality changeup would give Petrick three college ready pitches to work with at the next level. Right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and begins his swing with a leg-lift stride. Showcased a feel for the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 80 mph. Ran a 7.15 60-yard dash and registered accurate 91 mph arm strength from the outfield during defensive evaluations.
4.24.18 - A quick center fielder who should be able to stick at the position, Petrick was a bright spot in the Pennridge offense. Petrick ran good routes in center and has decent footspeed, registering home-to-first times between 4.44 (through the bag) to 4.55 (on the turn). He stands even in the box with a short, compact stroke through the ball. His base is wide and the hands are quiet, starting high. Petrick singled twice, once through the right side of the infield and later shooting a ball right back up the middle. A lean 5-foot-10, there is still room to fill out and bolster his frame.
10.28.17 - 5-foot-10, 160-pound right-hander stood out in June at the Eastern PA College Prospect Showcase and has since seen a spike in velocity. Currently sitting 85-86 while bumping 87 mph, Petrik has significant arm side run to his fastball out of a 3/4 arm slot. A short arm swing and hip coil in his delivery combine to create deception. The junior gets similar movement on his changeup at 81-83 and uses a slider at 74-76 as his third pitch.
6.27.17 - 5-foot-10, 160-pound SS/RHP displayed solid abilities with the bat and defensively as a shortstop, but saved his best for last when he moved to the mound to complete his day. Getting every bit out of his average size frame, the righty sat 84-86 with a quick arm and armside run and sink from a 3/4 arm slot. Petrik's curveball sat 72-74 and it its best showed late, 10/4 slider break. Petrik also flashed a solid changeup with armside run at 81-82. Though a bit undersized, Petrik should draw interest as his frame continues to develop.
Right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and displayed a short stroke with solid lower half actions. He displayed a feel for the barrel and a bat exit velocity of 89 mph. Petrik displayed active feet defensively with a quick release and accurate 80 mph arm strength across the diamond. He ran a 7.12 60-yard dash.
