Physical: 5-foot-10, 180 pounds; Sturdy, proportional build. 7.63 runner in the 60. Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet narrow; upright bat position. Drops hands on the way back with an up and down stride for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing a strong lower half. Showed a slight lift to the ball with a two handed finish. More line drives than flyballs and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 94 MPH via Trackman. Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; utilizing a traditional primary position while staying in an elevated position. Hands are firm while staying low during transfer. Short take back from a high 3/4 arm slot. 2.12-2.15 pop times. C - 72 MPH.
2/07/21
Physical: Compact, durable 5-foot-10, 180-pound frame. 7.87 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Balanced, even stance with some bend at the knees as the hands started deep, slightly outside the shoulder. Utilized a short lift and replace stride in order to initiate the barrel through a lightning quick, flat path and into the hitting zone. Impressive hand speed (27.10 max) turning into noticeable bat speed (73 mph average) generating thump to the pull-side gap during batting practice. Recorded a 92 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball while really getting into the baseball on occasion, driving it to deep LF for a max batted ball distance of 324 feet. Mostly loft at the moment (36% fly ball rate) with ability to match pitch plane regardless of location.
Defensively: The primary backstop featured moderate depth in the crouch with developing hip mobility, set a good target with adequate receiving abilities; pop times ranged from 2.18-2.28 with great initial straight line footwork out of the crouch. The transfers work with the timing mechanism at foot strike allowing for quick release out of a short, high ¾ slot (68 mph from the crouch). Solid feel for blocking skills letting the glove hand lead first to the spot.
