Physical: The Wagner commit stands a strong, durable 6-foot, 205lbs. 7.26 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Began from an upright, slightly open stance as the hands operated high in rhythm. Utilized a leg-hang stride with hip-coil at the top, landing firmly into the front side and initiating the bat-head through a flat, direct path. Weight-shifted accurately to impact, producing loud, flush contact at the front of the plate for pull-side juice (T98 mph bat-exit velocity, 335 foot batted ball via Trackman). Recorded a no-doubt HR to LF in game action that cleared the stadium over the party deck. High-intent ground power in the swing that translates into a sequenced, middle of the order skillset.
Defensively: The primary backstop featured natural feel in the crouch, receiving from a wide, traditional stance with pocket awareness. Pop times ranged from 1.87-1.96, able to maintain lower posture and burst off the backside drive leg. A clean, medium H ¾ slot worked at release to the target (81 mph arm, plus carry).
6/13/21
Physical: Strong/athletic 6-foot, 205lb frame with easy, likeable attributes in his game. 7.34 runner in the 60-yard dash, posting a good time for his build.
Offensively: RHH - The righty flashed a balanced, slightly open stance with high hands showing rhythm pre-swing. Utilized a stretched load beyond the shoulder coupled with a coiled, leg hang stride to initiate a high intent swing through a flat path into the zone. Really delivered the top hand with explosive turns on the inner half to pull (LF/LCF) and stayed in the legs with simple, efficient juice. Recorded a loud 98 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball and projects to hit in the middle of the order.
Defensively: The primary backstop featured a prototypical catcher’s profile; strong/traditional setup and soft glove hand at the catch point. Stayed down through receive on catch/throw phase with some of the better raw arm strength in the class (82 mph from crouch) seeing increased ride to head height of the middle infielder. In/out of the glove and advanced 1.88-1.94 pop times. Ready to impact the game on either side of the ball.
2/27/21
Physical: 6’ 205lb C/3B ran a 7.26 laser timed 60-yard dash. The strong frame uses aggressive movements to create extra power throughout his game,
Offensively: Starts in a wide stance with high hands that have some fast-twitch movement in them pre-pitch. As he strides the hands fall into slot. He engages his backside and has a forward movement gaining ground towards the pitcher.
Defensively: Receives from a traditional squatted stance and uses a strong hand and wrist to stick pitches in the strike zone. Catch and throw is quick and accurate to the base.
7/22/20
Physical: Advanced strength throughout a large 6-foot, 205-pound prototypical backstop frame. 7.64 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Crouched, open stance with the hands showing quick circular rhythm by the ear in the setup. Utilized a repeatable toe-tap stride with slight hip glide towards impact in order to initiate his swing. Generated violent lower half drive in the box creating quality hip shoulder separation and the hands to jolt through a slightly uphill path with natural lift into the hitting zone. Showcased a pull-side approach during a standout batting practice round with backspin to the LCF gap/LF line. Strong wrists were able to efficiently turn the barrel through the baseball at the front of the plate, registering a top bat-exit velocity of 86 mph per Trackman Baseball.
Defensively: The primary backstop is an advanced defender with a low crouch in the setup showing advanced control behind the dish. Beat the ball to the spot repeatedly with a soft glove hand displaying minimal movement at the catch point. Pop times ranged from 1.96-2.07 using explosive straight line footwork towards the target coupled with quick catch and throw skills out of a high ¾ slot with a short arm circle. Both the arm strength and the footwork were legit and should offer even more room for improvement as he continues maturing. Moved well laterally in his frame with ability to get around blocks on either side of the plate; deadened the ball with downward chest angles giving himself recovery ability. C - 77 mph
