7/20/14 The jury is still out on whether Kuypers is a pitcher first, position player second or the other way around. What is not difficult to determine is that he can do both well. Kuypers sat 84-86 with solid 72 mph breaking curveball out of a high 3/4 arm slot. Kuypers registered six strikeouts in three innings of work on day one, showing an easy tempo to his delivery and the potential for added velocity. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound uncommitted senior 3-for-10 at the plate in game play and registered an 86 mph bat exit velocity. Kuypers has a soft glove hand and the arm strength (83 mph) to potentially make the move to 3B.
6/18/14 The 5-foot-11, 190-pound two-way prospect ran a 7.31 60-yard dash and went 3-for-6 in game action while registering an 86 mph bat exit velocity. The right-handed hitter's hands really work and a solid lower half leads to above average barrel whip. Kuypers displayed capable actions defensively at 2B and an 81 mph arm across the diamond. The righty sat 82-84 with some arm side run to his fastball while commanding a 71 mph curveball with tight 11/5 rotation and a 75 mph changeup with late fade.
4/3/14 Kuypers started for Central Bucks South. He cruised through three innings, mixing his FB at 83-84 (touch 85) and CB at 71-73. Kuypers has a real feel for spin, consistently locating his CB in the zone early in the count and as a chase late, getting a significant number of swing-throughs. He also occasionally showed a CH at 75-76 with some fade. He finished with a line of 5 IP, 6 H, 3 BB and 8 K.
2/16/14 Kuypers showcased arm side run to a fastball that sat 83-85 from a 3/4 arm slot. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound righty displayed tight rotation on his 70 mph curveball, one of the better breaking balls at the event. Kuypers also flashed a solid changeup at 74 mph that showed down action and was thrown at fastball arm speed.
2/15/14 Kuypers showcased two-way abilities with a strong round of batting practice. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound right-handed hitter showcased loose hands and a strong lower half in barreling the baseball routinely with a bat exit velocity of 85 mph. Kuypers showcased soft hands and a strong arm (81 mph) across the diamond, but lacks the foot speed to play on the left side of the infield (4.55 home-to-1B).
11/2/13 Kuypers is a 5-foot-10, 170-pound two-way prospect that showed promise on the mound. He sat 83-84 from a high 3/4 arm slot with a quick arm action. His 71 mph curveball showed slider break and his 75 mph changeup showed arm side run and was thrown at fastball arm speed.
