7/20/16 Lean 6-foot-6, 175-pounder attacked the zone and showed good command of a three-pitch mix. Repeatable delivery with minimal moving parts to get out of sync includes a slight back shoulder dip over the rubber. Arm action has some wrist wrap with soft stab, but gets good extension out front. Fastball sat 85-88 with some armside run and finish. Showed a good feel for a curveball with some depth at 68-70 and also featured a change-up at 70-71.
4/27/16 6-foot-5, 175-pound junior sat 82-84 early from a high 3/4 arm slot, settling in at 80-82 by the 3rd inning. Tossed a complete game allowing one earned run on three days rest. Found a feel for his upper 60's curveball with 10/4 rotation in the middle innings and effectively mixed an occasional 70 mph changeup. Pounded the strike zone (one walk) and showed quick feet on a pick off to end the 6th inning. Shows the potential for significant velocity gains but must work to add to become more physical.
8/1/15 Leitholf was dominant in three hitless innings of work at the PBR Future Games, mixing a fastball that topped at 86 mph with a rapidly developing curveball at 74 mph and a solid changeup at 72 mph. Leitholf struck out four and allowed one walk in his solid performance. The 6-foot-5, 170-mph righty pounded the zone and stayed off barrels with command of all three offerings.
6/17/15 Long and lanky XL-frame (6-foot-4, 165-pounds) with lots of room for strength gains. Pitched out of a high three-quarter slot with solid landing at front foot strike. Located fastball well down/away vs right-handed hitters at 83-85. Has more in the tank when he learns to work over his front side instead of around it. Curveball had big 11/5 break at 66-68, while he is still developing feel for his change-up at 69-70.
6/17/15 6-foot-4, 165-pound right-handed hitter who is a solid prospect as a primary pitcher. Started from a slightly open stance and took a near-knee-height stride to open. Flashed some bat speed in BP, although barrel wrap created length in swing and eyes bounced during stride. Showcased 77-mph exit velocity and 79-mph arm strength during workout. While he certainly benefits from his height on the mound, it is not as much of a positive for him defensively, as he played upright, working above the baseball and fielding it deep.
6/25/14 Leitholf is a 6-foot-4, 160-pound freshman with a big upside. The righty sat 79-81 with good flow to his delivery. Leitholf also commanded a 66 mph 12/6 breaking curveball with some tilt. He worked three innings yielding three hits while striking out three during game play. Leitholf will be a high follow in this class with his projectable frame and repeatable delivery.
