A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Curveball
Hammer+
A hammer breaking ball drops vertically with velocity through the zone, or 12-to-6 movement. Hammer+ of 100 is MLB average.
Curveball
Sweep+
A sweeping breaking ball moves horizontally with velocity through the zone. Sweep+ of 100 is MLB average.
The highest Edge Score within the given year. Edge Score is a comprehensive score that takes the core-six visual skills into account, providing an assessment of an athlete’s overall visual ability.
Physical: XL 6-foot-1, 215lb frame with broad shoulders and power in the legs. 6.86 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Wide open, simple stance with the hands hanging right next to the ear to start. Utilized a controlled toe-tap stride flashing some of the better bat-speed in the class through a violent, slightly uphill path towards a high two-handed finish. Stays inside the body well in the swing with strong rotational characteristics. Recorded a T104 mph bat-exit velocity and just missed out on a 400 foot batted ball distance at 399. Impact middle of the order bat who has shown big improvements of late.
Defensively: The primary third baseman bent down in the lower half with good posture and choppy footwork. Arrived on time, left/right to the ball and funneled softly on the exchange. Kept the feet in action and released accurately across the diamond (low-effort 76 mph). More in the tank, under control, made all the plays.
6/13/21
Physical: Strong/loud 5-foot-11, 210lb frame with physicality exuding in the actions. 7.02 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Crouched, open stance as the hands began loose/high out in front of the head to start. Utilized a controlled leg hang stride that allowed for a stretched launch beyond the shoulder before footstrike; entered the hitting zone with a thunderous barrel, carrying lots of bat-speed through a flat path with lift after impact. Stayed on the rear hip well generating extension and leverage on the middle/in pitch. Tons of juice to pull and a near 400 foot peak batted ball distance on one of his home runs during batting practice. Recorded a 101 mph bat-exit velocity via Trackman Baseball and projects as one of the better power bats still uncommitted in PA’s ‘22 class.
Defensively: The primary first baseman flashed a moderately low posture and set up on time with early glove hand presentation; soft actions out in front that funneled inward to the belt line, showed adequate pace on throws across the diamond from a low, high ¾ slot (86 mph arm). Feel around the bag was evident during defensive evals.
Pitching: RHP - Starts off the left side of the rubber with obvious strength in the lower half; small side rocker into a crouched stack position with slight hip coil, medium stride length and got over the front side well through a high ¾ slot. Held 82-84, T85 mph and peppered the zone at a greater than 60% rate. Mixed a hard, sharp 73-74 mph breaker showing occasional 12/6 action downward (2444 spin) and countered with a 72-74 mph CH in even counts.
2/14/21
Physical: 5-foot-11, 210LBS. Has some physicality in the frame. 7.02SEC 60-Yard Dash.
Offensively: Sets up with feet shoulder width apart and slightly open. Low set hands at chest height and at the bodies mid line. Hands work back into a bow and arrow load. Has some wiggle in the barrel throughout the load. Uses both a toe tap and leg hang stride. Plus rotational acceleration and bat speed per Blast Motion. Notable 103MPH exit velocity.
Defensively: High intent movements at 3B. Maintains bend in the knees as the ground ball is approaching a works low to the ground when receiving that ball. Arm swing is long and throws are high effort.
Pitching: RHP. Starts in the middle of the rubber and moves to the 1B side of the mound during the rocker step. Uses a leg lift to waist height as he drops and drives from the backside. Plant leg moves down the mound and lands on the ball of the foot. High 3/4 release point. FB paired with 11-5 CB, SL, and CH.
2/29/20
Physical: 5-foot-11, 210-pounds. Strong, physical frame. 7.06 runner in the 60; 4.39 home-to-1B. Offensively: RHH. Slightly open, slightly crouched stance with an even base, hands start level with his ears and work back on load along with a medium stride for timing Barrel is direct and flat to the point of contact and finishes on an uphill plane, quick hands. Shows present pull side power. 100 MPH raw exit velocity. Defensively: Charges the ball aggressively and fields the ball in the middle of his body, plays well on the run. Long arm swing with a 3/4 arm slot. INF - 85 MPH. Pitching: Works from the stretch with a compact leg lift to the belt , sits into his back leg and strides out in line with a smooth hand separation, repeatable release against a strong front side for a balanced, upright follow through. Long, whippy arm action to a high 3/4 release. FB: T83, 81-83 MPH. Downhill plane flashing some arm side run. SL: 61-61 MPH. Maintains hand speed. CH: 68-71 MPH. Showed sharp 12-6 break when kept at arm speed.
