Physical: Ultra-athletic 6-foot, 170lb frame with natural pitchability.
Pitching: RHP - Momentum-gaining pace throughout the delivery and hides the ball with hip-coil at the stack. Phased well down the slope, created plenty of downard drive through the torso at release (H ¾ slot, good separation). Pounded the zone with a 67% strike rate and an 88-90 mph FB that showed run characteristics. Feel for both a 75-77 mph CB on an 11/5 tilt at 2279 rpms and a lateral 78-80 mph SL with short cut across the zone. A 78-80 mph CH comes out with similar tunnel to the FB. Arm-speed on everything, deceptive at times.
6/13/21
Physical: Athletic, even proportioned frame (6-0, 170lbs) with natural feel in all phases; two-way threat seeing the stock continue to rise. 7.07 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Balanced, slightly-coiled start with a bent backside/rear hip leg in the stance; utilized a short lift and replace stride with simple, mature actions at the plate working the barrel through a flat path with connection into the hitting zone. Short stroke creating big time juice to the pull-side when on-time, evidenced by a no-doubt homer into the parking lot at Dubois Central Catholic during the #PAStateGames. Sprayed hard contact through the middle of the fielding in BP, flashing ready hand speed (25.7 mph; Blast Motion) and good rotational power (22+ G’s of force). Projects to handle a role atop a collegiate lineup, which should play second-hand to the high ceiling he possesses on the mound. Recorded a smooth 92 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball.
Defensively: The shortstop demonstrated above-average, confident actions in space getting the chest down over the toes and working actively in the footwork. Set himself up for advantageous hops using a soft glove hand off the left foot; the rangy defender handled plays in all directions, showing off comfortability on the run too; life and carry across the infield from a high ¾, low slot (87 mph arm).
Pitching: RHP - Started off the middle/left side of the rubber with gradual pace gaining throughout the delivery. Used a short side rocker into a high leg lift with hip coil at the top of the stack; held direction well on the forward move, creating impressive separation/flexibility on the back side and featuring a loose, high ¾ arm-swing with no restrictions. The FB showed off plenty of ride, working up to 19+ inches of IVB on its way to the plate (84-85 mph, strikes; 82% zone rate). Mixed a sharp 74-76 mph curveball with advanced feel for spin (-7.5 inches of IVB) posing as the strikeout offering; countered with a killed 76-78 mph CH displaying consistent hard fade to the arm-side (15 inches of HM).
2/14/21
Physical: 6-foot, 170LBS. 7.2SEC 60-Yard Dash.
Offensively: RHH. Wide set up and barrel resting on shoulder. Hands go back, barrel tilts up, and weight rocks into the backside during the load. There is no stride, just a heel lift. High, two handed finish.
Defensively: Wide base to prepare for the ground ball. Quick first step and gets into a position to make plays. Fields ball out in front and funnels to belt line. Arm is quick and whippy.
Pitching: RHP. Out of the wind up uses a rocker step and leg lift to chest height. On glove break the arm goes down to begin the circle. Out of the stretch he comes set with weight on the backside and in a straight line to home plate. Hands are at chest height and stay there until glove break. The leg lift is to waist height and goes down and out as he makes his way down the mound.
2/23/20
6-foot, 160-pound primary pitcher sat 82-83 from a high 3/4 arm slot with a whippy arm action. Fastball is flat while changeup at 73-75 small arm-side run and some sink. Curveball at 72-73 showed 11/5 rotation with some depth at times. The right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a lift-and-replace stride to begin. Displayed a direct swing path with balance throughout and a feel for the barrel. Registered a bat exit velocity of 86 mph and ran a 7.26 60-yard dash. Showcased active feet while playing through the ball defensively with solid 83 mph arm strength across the diamond.
