12/19/15 - The 6-foot-6, 209-pound prospect posted a 4.78 /home to first time and had an 85 mph position velocity across the infield. Defensively, Alvis shows shorts arm action, accuracy on throws, good arm strength, soft hands, and moves athletically for his size. Offensively, Alvis showed a slightly more crouched stance than at previous events, showed much improved use of lower half resulting in several hard hit balls in his round of BP, short swing path and shows flashes of power, size and power potential make him and intriguing right-handed bat.
10/11/15 - The 6 foot 5, 206-pound prospect posted a 7.72 60 time and had an 85 mph position velocity across the infield. Defensively Alvis shows accuracy on throws, good arm strength, soft hands, and shows decent movement around the bag. Offensively Alvis has average bat speed from the right side and had an 81 mph exit velocity off the tee. Alvis hits from a balanced setup, has a short stride, can get more from his lower half at times, good balance, level path, and is a line drive type hitter. Alvis has good overall strength that translates to some pop off the bat. He went 0 for 3 during game play.
11/1/14 - 6-foot-5, 210-pound prospect with a big, strong frame. The right-handed hitter hits from a spread, weight back stance, good plate coverage, can go to all parts of the field, uphill path, good extension, middle of the line-up potential, 79 mph velocity off the bat, went 1-for-4 in game play with a single up the middle. Short arm action, high- ¾ arm slot, 76 mph arm velocity, good lateral movement, good reaction time. Prospect to follow with size and power projectability.
