06.13.17 - 6-foot, 160-pound, lean, projectable, still developing, long limbed frame. Hernandez raised some eyebrows with his arm strength in the outfield after throwing four consecutive strikes to the plate at 87, 88, 90 and 92 mph. Hernandez has a live body with a loose, quick arm stroke. He worked out in both the outfield and infield and is a long stride runner with an athletic gate and more speed and strength to come in the future. At shortstop he gets into a solid fielding position even though he catches the ball deep, but can also make the play on the run. In the outfield he plays through the ball with smooth rhythm. Offensively, the right-handed hitter starts from a balanced setup with smooth rhythm, an athletic leg kick and positive bat wrap into a short hand path. Hernandez has good energy in his swing, he stroked line drives during batting practice, and showed a good approach with barrel awareness.

On the mound, his velocity was 80-81 mph with a long, quick arm stroke from a high-¾ slot. Hernandez has an athletic, tall and fall delivery with good lower-half mobility and energy down the mound.
