07.17.18
Very strong, 6-foot, 200-pound frame with big thighs and forearms. The left-handed hitter starts in tall, athletic stance as he rocks his hands in sync with his lower half. A big leg kick works in tandem with a subtle load of the hands before he explodes over his front side, showcasing serious power and an easy swing designed for launch. Hamm keeps his head on the centerline, has good lag through the zone, soft elbows, is quietly compact, and has awareness for the barrel. In the outfield, Hamm plays through the baseball with confidence and fluidity, while throwing low liners with plenty of velocity (91 mph). Quick, forceful arm action from a high ¾ slot produces plenty of juice from the outfield, with an advanced crow-hop and finish. On the mound, Hamm works with a simple, repeatable, drop-and-drive and delivery, where his loose-quick arm stroke translates from the outfield and onto the bump. He hides the ball well and finishes from a high ¾ window, throwing all of his pitches from a similar slot. His fastball ranged from 85-90 mph, with a lot of strikes at the bottom of the zone. His 11/5 curveball sat at 73-74 mph, with good snap and two-plane movement. Hamm’s stock rose tremendously this summer, and his tools are to be coveted.

06.05.18
6-foot, 200 pound frame with wide shoulders and a strong lower half, very physical.  Hamm had the best overall tools in the showcase, showed versatility, and proved he has the tools to be a true two-way player.  At the plate he has strong body language in the box, and has big time bat speed showing power to both gaps and to left field; 92 mph exit velo.  He has a quiet and simple load, and the ball jumps off his bat with ease; at the point of contact he is in a very powerful position to hit using his body well.  In the infield and outfield he showed plus arm strength with carry (92 from OF, 89 from INF) with a quick arm action. On the mound, Hamm has great mound presence.  He flashed quick arm speed with a short arm action, and hides the ball well in his delivery. Good balance, with regular effort in a drop-and-drive delivery.  His fastball has late slight arm-side run and was 86-87, slider was 75-76 with sharp late break, his curveball was 71-73 with a tight 10/4 shape, and throws a straight changeup from 78-80. Maintains arm speed on off speed pitches, allowing for late and tight movement.
