There have been conflicting reports out of College Station on the right-hander’s fall. Some have indicated upwards of 99 mph with his No. 1, while others say 92-95. No matter the case, it’s our bet that Dettmer’s performance and stuff that he showed at last year’s CWS is just the tip of the iceberg for this talented prospect. The arrow is pointing up for the Aggie Ace.
Dettmer has an ideal frame at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds and could elevate his status with a more consistent 2023. The righty can get up to 96-97 mph with his fastball on a good day, while his low-80s power breaking ball is filthy, but inconsistent in shape. There’s a huge upside here.
