At 5-foot-9, 140-pounds, Pate has an athletic, quick-twitch frame. The right-handed hitter laced line drives through the middle of the field with carry through the gaps and a top exit velocity of 86 mph off the tee. Excellent rhythm with loose hands that whip the barrel through the zone on a mostly flat path. Does a nice job of getting extended through contact and shows quality feel to hit. Athletic footwork in the outfield, he plays the ball off his glove side then throws from a ¾ slot with a short arm circle and top velocity to the plate of 71 mph.

Using a leg kick load, he strides forward as his hands slide back, getting into his legs and delivering leverage through contact with a gap approach and line drive power. In the outfield, he plays through the ball with soft hands as he attacks the ball and cuts distance, throwing from a short, high-¾ slot.

Barreled it up during BP, making hard contact and showing barrel awareness. In the outfield, he plays aggressively through the ball with smooth footwork, soft hands, relaxed exchange and a quick arm stroke that produced a top velocity of 74 mph. Ran a 7.2 60-yard dash.
