09/2015: Committed to Radford
3.17.16:  Gerber has an athletic frame and throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. He has a short arm action that is loose and generates velocity with some effort. His shoulders are uphill and closed as he strides out to a square landing. His fastball was 80-84 and he had some plane to it and a bit of late run. His changeup was very good and was thrown with full armspeed and fading action, running 71-74. His curveball had gradual 11/5 break and ran 65. His command of his changeup and fastball were very good.
6.23.15 Hit from a balanced stance with a slight knee bend and high hands. Small load back.  Short stride with a slight leg kick.  Maintained good balance throughout the swing with a good lower half.  Had an advanced approach during the round with fluid rhythm.  Sometimes late getting foot down.  Short, level bat path with extension.  Had an exit velocity of 86 mph.  In the outfield, threw from a high ¾ arm slot with long loose arm action.  Throws were accurate and had carry. Footwork was fluid and exchanges were clean/quick.  Plays through the ball.  Understands the position.  Had a positional velocity of 80 mph.

2.22.15  Gerber stands 5-foot-11 and has an athletic frame. He has a smooth drop and drive delivery and throws from a three-quarters arm slot. He has a loose arm action that has gotten longer, and he has a quick armstroke that generates easy velocity. His shoulders are uphill as he strides out on line, landing square before coming to a complete finish. Gerber’s fastball had slight run to it and sat 80-82. His slider had sharp 10/4 break and was thrown with decent armspeed, coming in 64-67. His change-up is a plus pitch, thrown with full armspeed and heavy armside run and coming in 71-73. Gerber had good command of all of his pitches.

7/31/14:  Gerber is a 5-foot-10, 160 pound RHP/OF with an athletic frame. He throws from a high three-quarters slot and has good feel for his mechanics. He has a shorter arm action but it is free and his arm stroke is quick. Gerber sat 79-81 and touched 82 with his fastball. His breaking ball is a good 10/4 slider that he threw 63-66 and has hard, late break to it. He also showed a very good change-up that ran 70-72 that he threw with full arm speed and heavy fading action to it. Gerber had command of all three pitches.  At the plate, Gerber starts in an athletic position with high hands.  He has a quiet rhythm and short stride which allows him to get the barrel to the ball consistently.  He showed outstanding bat speed with an exit velocity of 85 mph and he sprayed the ball around the field with average power.  In the outfield, he showed good actions and athleticism.  He took good routes to the baseball and was an accurate thrower with average arm strength (77 mph).

11/8/2014:  Gerber stands an athletic 5-foot-11. He throws from a three-quarters slot and has a free arm action. He does a good job of staying online and has very smooth drop and drive mechanics. Gerber’s fastball sat 79-81 on the day with heavy running and sinking action on the pitch that he commanded well. His breaking ball had 11/5 action with sharp snap to it. It ran 62-66 and his command of the pitch was a bit erratic on the day. Gerber’s best pitch was his change-up, which generated a lot of bad swings. He throws his change-up with full arm-speed and it has a lot of late sinking action to it. His change-up ran 70-73 on the day.
Gerber is a 5-foot-11, 172 pound, athletic Outfielder that hits from a balanced stance with a slight knee bend and high hands. Gerber has a very short compact swing that generates backspin with a gap-to-gap approach. He showed above average bat speed with a 85 mph Exit Velocity. In the field, Gerber showed a very accurate slightly above-average arm (80 mph). He is a very fundamental outfielder that understands angles and was able to take good routes on the weekend. He also has the ability to play all three outfield positions, as well as, pitch.
