Eldridge is an Alabama commit and the No. 1 2023 prospect in VA/DC. Tall athletic frame with very long levers, leg kick stride, hands stay inside and are short to the ball. Smooth swing with good balance, uses leverage and strength to generate power, strong at contact point with good extension through the ball, easily generates natural loft in his swing with real power present to all fields. Did not throw or pitch during this workout, but is a legitimate two-way prospect to follow.

Eldridge is an Alabama commit and is a big, physical two-way player. Got intentionally walked in some key points, but did have an at-bat where he was pitched to early in the game. Got behind 0-2 and then battled, stayed back and lined a single to center. Long limbs and a projectable body, generates a lot of leverage with some very real raw power to all fields.

We talked about Eldridge on Wednesday after a big offensive performance at Westfield and wanted to touch on the arm. Long thin 6-foot-7 frame with a ton of projection left. Really low effort delivery, loose full arm swing, and throws from a higher three-quarter arm slot. Stays taller throughout the delivery and uses that to leverage some downhill tilt on the fastball from that higher slot and 6-foot-7 frame. The fastball was 92-94 with minimal effort in the first inning and faded a little in the second to the 89-92 range before exiting. The fastball, as previously noted, had some downhill plane to it and showed big arm side run to both sides of the plate. Threw one curveball at 79 mph that had gradual 12/6 break and one slider at 84 mph that was up and backed up out of the hand a bit. Both breaking balls need some works, but also he did not have time in that outing to allow them to work, as we have seen that from plenty of arms this spring where the secondary tightened up as the outing progressed. The pitch that did not need time to develop in the outing was the changeup. The changeup stayed at 84-85 mph with late hard arm side run and shows plus potential. It is thought of to be his "4th" pitch, but during this outing it was up there as 1A or 1B. Had feel for the zone with it and got multiple swings and misses. This is a big time talent with plenty of room to grow and mature into that ultra projectable frame.

Ultra projectable frame standing around 6-foot-6/6-foot-7 with a lot of room to add strength. Eldridge started at first base on the day and made a big impact at the plate. Left handed bat that starts in an open athletic stance. Hands are set back and make a small load to separation before slotting. Swing has some definite intent to it with uphill plane and easy power. In his first at bat he took a low fastball out of right center field and showed the ability to get the hands inside and create some lift on that pitch down in the zone. After that he was walked in his next two at bats, one intentional and one unintentional. In his fourth at bat he took an 0-1 fastball out of left field for his second homerun of the day. Showed a simple efficient stride, the foot got down on time, and this has a chance to be a big power bat for a long time. Extremely high ceiling especially with the upside on the mound, which we will see later this week. Very intriguing first look at potentially one of the best two way players in the country. Eldridge has a big physical frame that has some projection left to it and a lot of strength present. Hits from the left side from an open athletic stance, leg kick stride, good quiet rhythm to his set-up. Bat is very quick and whippy, hands stay inside, gets to contact quickly and then lets his long levers work, strong contact point with extension through the ball. Generates easy power and natural loft in swing. Also moves well on the bases for his size, the swing in the video ended up being an easy triple, kept hands inside and hammered the pitch. Earlier in the doubleheader, was way under a ball that he still got enough of to drive to the base of the fence in right center, the power is real for Eldridge already.
