VA/DC Scout Blog
Kolarov has a lanky frame with a lot of projection left to it. Free quick arm action, lands with hips completely open to home plate. Fastball was 82-84, mostly sitting at 84. Breaking ball was 72-73 and backed up a few times.
Top Prospect Games West
Kolarov is 6-4 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action that is loose and very quick, easy effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and on line, lands open with a slight fall-off finish. Fastball 80-82, touching 83, with some downward plane and hard late run to armside. Slider was 73-74 with some armspeed and late gradual 10/4 break. Change-up was 70-71 with good armspeed and fade to it. Showed ability to throw all three pitches for strikes and moved the fastball around the zone.

Kolarov has a very lanky frame with a ton of projection left to it. Shorter, loose easy arm action that is quick, very easy effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and on line, lands slightly open, athletic finish with a bit of fall off. In his first inning, Kolarov sat 80-82 with his fastball, touching 83. He had some downward angle and a bit of late run. That velocity had tailed off to 78-79 in the third. Showed a change-up with good armspeed and heavy fade, pitch ran 70-73. Breaking ball had some armspeed and late 10/4 break at 71-74. Used the change-up in the strikezone and the slider to try and draw swing and misses in two-strike counts. Showed ability to throw fastball to both sides of the plate. Also has feel for limiting the running game, mixing up his looks and not leaving his infielders out to dry. His three pitches come out of the same tunnel very well for a young pitcher, tough for hitters to identify.
Preseason All-State II
Kolarov is 6-4 with a lanky athletic frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot with longer loose arm action that is very quick and whippy, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are slightly closed and uphill, lands square with an athletic finish. Fastball sat 82-83, touching 85, with downward plane and some late run to it. Curveball was 74-77 with sharp power 10/4 break and good armspeed, good shape to pitch, swing and miss right now. Change-up was 71-74 with good armspeed and some fade to it.
