Wagner, a George Washington commit, has a projectable 6-foot-5 frame. Works with a full arm circle from a high three-quarter to over the top arm slot. Struggled with control and secondary early on, but settled in nicely. The fastball was 86-88 early on and touched 89 a few times. Later in the game, as he went into the fifth, the fastball was still in the 84-86 range touching 87 a few times. The fastball had nice downhill plane on it when he stayed behind it. The breaking ball was loose in shape early and scattered around the plate, but as he got into the third and fourth innings he showed nice feel for it and has a chance to be a solid out pitch. The breaking ball had tight 12/6 shape at 74-76 mph when he settled in on the feel of that pitch. Flashed a few changeups, but seems to be his third pitch in terms of usage right now. This was a tough scrappy St. Chris lineup that, outside of the first inning, Wagner navigated pretty well.

VA/DC Committed Combine

Wagner is 6-5 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and some projection left to it. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, long loose quick arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and slightly closed, lands slightly open with an athletic finish. Fastball was 89-91, with downward angle and boring action to armside. Curveball was 76-78 and had sharp 11/5 break and good armspeed and some shape. Change-up was 78-79 with good armspeed and hard armside run to it.

Wagner is tall with a lanky frame that has plenty of projection left to it. Moves well at short, showed good lateral range and a good rhythm defensively. Smooth actions with soft hands and a strong arm, good defender who should be able to stay there. At the plate, hits from the right side with a short quick swing, stayed inside and did a good job of working the middle of the field in the game, has extension through the ball and will show power when he gets the ball in the air. Mature approach and showed ability to barrel ball.

Preseason All-State I

Long projectable frame at 6-foot-5, 200-pounds. Side step delivery to a consistent balance point and showed repeatable mechanics. Hips and shoulders uphill moving down the mound and landing on line. Average arm circle with solid arm speed and throws from a high three-quarter arm slot. Fastball was 81-85 and showed carry through the zone as there is more left in the tank. Curveball had depth with a 11/5 break at 69-70 mph and showed feel. Changeup had arm side fade at 69-71 mph. Square athletic stance with a small knee to knee leg lift landing on line. Hands load back with some rhythm and bat is quick to the hitting zone with a flat bat path. Swing showed gap to gap potential with some present power and an exit velocity of 92 mph. Home-1st time was 4.31 and showed some athleticism for his size. Hands were soft at the catch and feet were active on approach. Clean exchange with a short arm action and above average arm speed throwing from a high three-quarter arm slot at 88 mph.
