VA/DC Scout Blog

Coble threw an absolute gem on Saturday. He used all three pitches and mixed them extremely well, especially deeper into the game where he leaned on the slider and changeup a little bit more. The fastball was mainly 83-84 and dipped as low as 81 deeper into the game, but overall held up pretty well. After the second or third inning he started to use the slider a little bit more. The slider sat at 74-76 with tight short 1/7 action. I thought the best pitch on the day was the changeup. He used that the most, while mainly throwing it to right handed hitters. He spotted it to the arm side pretty well and it played really well off of the fastball. Overall a really nice early season outing for Coble, especially versus an offensive lineup that has the ability to produce runs like the Hawks can.

Unsigned Senior Games

Coble is 6-2 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a very low three-quarters, almost sidearm, slot, longer free quick arm action and some effort to his delivery. Shoulders are downhill and closed, lands square with an athletic finish. Fastball was 84-87, touching 88, with a tough angle and a lot of hard late run to it that gets some depth as well. Curveball had good armspeed and was 75-77 with late sharp 2/8 break to it. Changeup was 77-79 with good armspeed and hard run to it. Showed a cutter that was 79-82 with late tight 2/8 break.

TPG East

Coble is 6-2 with a lanky frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He throws from a very low three-quarters arm slot, longer loose quick arm action and easier effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 80-83, touching 84, with hard run to armside and a bit of depth to it. Curveball had good armspeed and was 71-73 with late sharp 2/8 break. Change-up had good armspeed and was 72-76 with heavy sink. Feel for all three pitches in any count.

Preseason All-State II

Projectable 6-foot-2, 170-pound frame with athleticism and room to add strength. Repeatable normal effort delivery. Hands break in rhythm, moves down the mound with shoulders slightly uphill, and lands on line at foot strike. Arm action is long and loose from a low three-quarter arm slot. Fastball sat 80-81 and touched 82 mph with arm side run and feel for both sides of the plate. Breaking ball had 1/7 shape sitting 71-72 mph. The spin was loose at times, but had solid arm speed. Slider sat 74-76 mph. Changeup had some arm side fade and above average feel at 72-73 mph.
